Batik House is a labour of love.
It started as a hobby to collect vintage hand painted (tulis) Batik fabrics especially those known in Indonesia as Batik Tiga Negeri and this quickly turn into a business that strive to bring Indonesian Batiks and other handmade crafts to the world. As a (still informal) business, Batik House started in 2010 in the Gulf State of Qatar. Using our own vintage Batik fabric and with our own designs we collaborate with Indonesian home industries to create fashion accessories such as ladies bags, wallets and other small things. Initially the customers came from the sizable Indonesian expatriates there before quickly expands into other nationalities . From that initial success, the Batik House ranges slowly increased into home decorations, accessories and ladies dresses. Despite this the individuality principles of Batik House is still maintained. The expansion through online marketing soon follows, especially via our Facebook page ‘ Batik House’ and its associated groups , enabling the wider base of customer location. The Australian segment of Batik House started in early 2013 in Brisbane by opening our first display gallery and the Batik House name quickly gain recognition there. From this small beginning, today Batik The Batik House presence in Brisbane was still maintained even after we left it for Adelaide as through our good friends and business associates who shares our love for Indonesian Batik, we are able to establish affiliates galleries in Sunnybank and Indooroopilly , 2 suburbs of Brisbane as well as in the Sunshine Coast,Darwin and Perth Preparation for new affiliates galleries in other cities are progressing as well.
